Twitter just announced Tweet Button to let people share content on Twitter without having to leave the page. As webmasters and bloggers, we benefit from twitter while driving traffic to our websites like other social sharing buttons such as TweetMeme & Facebook.

Here is a example what the Tweet Button looks like and how it works. Click on it to Tweet this post to your followers.

<a href="" class="twitter-share-button" data-count="vertical" data-via="webmastercrunch">Tweet</a><script type="text/javascript" src=""></script>

Go to the Twitter Goodies Tweet Button page, where you can configure and generate the tweet button code. You can see there is 3 different styles of tweet buttons (Vertical count, Horizontal count & No count) available and the design is similar with other popular social network sharing buttons. By default, the button shows the number of times it was clicked on though that can be turned off. You are allowed to preview the button before grab the code to your site. Want to build a custom button? Check out Twitter’s developer documentation for the Sharing API to provide the same Tweet Button sharing functionality with your own style. If you use WordPress, you can open index.php and single.php to add the code into wherever you want the button to appear.

Check out the following video from Twitter shows how it works:
