Page Speed is an open-source project started at Google to help developers optimize their web pages by applying web performance best practices. It can help web developers to optimize the performance of a webpage. The Page Speed browser extensions, available for Chrome and Firefox Firebug, allow you to evaluate the performance of your web pages and to get suggestions on how to improve them.

Page Speed Online is a new web-based tool that allows users to analyze pages at any time, in any browser, without downloading an extension. It also features Page Speed Mobile analysis, which lets developers analyze their site as viewed by a mobile browser, and get suggestions specific to mobile optimization. Reducing page load times can reduce bounce rates and increase conversion rates. Page Speed generates its results based on the state of the page at the time you run the tool. Webmaster Crunch Google Sitelinks

Google sitelinks are automatically generated by their algorithms that can help visitors navigate your sites easier in search results. Sitelinks are links to a site’s interior pages. Although these shortcut links are completely automated, it’s known that only useful, quality and high traffic sites can get sitelinks. If your site has sitelinks, it can save time for your readers to navigate your site deeply and easily. Your site will be easier get sitelinks if it has a good SERPs and well-structure design.

Simply search your site domain or relevant keywords, you can find the sitelinks on the first position of result page. If you want to check sitelinks officially, on the Google Webmaster Tools homepage, click the site you want. Under Site configuration, click Sitelinks. If we have sitelinks information for your site, it will display a list of sitelinks.

Google Revealed Just Another URL Shortener Goo.gl

Today Google has revealed a new website, their own URL shortener – Goo.gl. You might know that Google’s URL shortener has been available on last December but only as a feature of specific products like Google Toolbar, Blogger, Maps, Picasa and Feedburner. Today Google announced that they have now made Goo.gl URL shortener public allowing anyone to create short URLs and track stats for them accordingly. You can simply copy and paste the long URL and instantaneously produce a short one. Although Google insisted that the new service is not going to head on against the main competitor bit.ly, they claimed that Goo.gl is the “stablest, most secure, and fastest URL shortener on the web.” Over the past year, Goo.gl has almost near 100% uptime and has added spam and malware detection to the shortened URLs.

You can check the short URL traffic stats, referrals and visitor’s location on bit.ly. Comparing with Goo.gl, the biggest difference is that you can even see these visitor’s countries, browsers and platforms on its detail page. Anyway, there are several popular URL shortener services such as Bit.ly, Twitter’s t.co and ow.ly, is it necessary to create one more “just another URL shortener”? If i am a Google aficionado, it’s the best tool to replace other URL shortener competitors. Otherwise, as the post title said, it’s probably just another URL shortener. How do you think? HTML5 Rocks shares a great new resource for web developers and teams looking to put HTML5 and its technologies to use today, including more information on specific features and when to use them in your apps.

HTML5Rocks features numerous tutorials on HTML5 feature. And there’s a code playground to let you mess around with your own code. These demo presentation works well in Google Chrome and Apple Safari since they are both running theWebKit rendering engine. You can view a number of demos that show off interesting uses of HTML5, CSS3 and related technologies on HTML5 Studio.

Google Adsense Rolling Out New Ad Units Layout

The Google Adsense team has announced today to update a new ad units layout for AdSense for content. 3 new text and URL placements will roll out over the next few weeks on the most popular 300×250, 336×280 and 728×90 px text ad units. The URL has been placed aside the ad title in all these units and the Adsense team has claimed that CTR will improve with the new redesign space-efficient format.

During testing, the redesigned ads performed extremely well. We’ll continue to experiment and innovate on our formats to help you monetize your content…

Here is new changes to the following ad units:

Leaderboard (728×90): the title, description, and URL are now arranged in rows instead of columns;
Medium and large rectangles (300×250, 336×280): the URL is now in the same line as the title;
There is a few minor adjustments to the font size. For example, the font size for the leaderboard with four ads is much more readable.

Protect Your AdSense Account from Click Bombing Invalid Clicks

If you notice your Google Adsense account has unusual page CTR like 5, 10 or even hundred of times more than your normal rate, you might probably being attacked by someone for Click Bombing. Google’s system will quickly react and disable your account due to the invalid click activity. Your account can be very easy to get disablement, you will also lose all the earning even Google recover your account later. Don’t want to be the victim? Let’s see how we can defend ourselves.

What’s Adsense Click-Bombing and How to Prevent it?

Adsense Click Bombing is when a malicious people or your competitor intent to massively click your Adsense ads with the sole purpose of getting this webmaster’s Adsense account banned.

#1. Google Adsense actually has an official “Invalid Clicks Contact Form” that you can use to report any unusual account activity even you predict someone will give you a click-bombing. You should quickly report any invalid issue to Google Adsense team when your site suffer a click-bombed, it’s the best method to let Google file your case and defend your Adsense account. Google will only contact you once Google suspect your account with any significant issue.

#2. Remove the Adsense ads which suffer click bombing issue temporarily until the whole issue gets resolved, it’s also important that you can prevent them destroy your account further.

#3. Tracking the click bombers! ClickAider is a handy free service for webmasters to track your PPC ads. Click Aider will detect clicks to your Google Adsense and other PPC networks. Just place the JavaScript code to start tracking with real time stats.

My Bottom Line

Since Google take seriously about the click fraud issue, keep closer eyes on your daily Adsense stats. So you can quickly react on time from against the click bombing. Moreover, someone might grad your AdSense publisher ID and place on anywhere in order to achieve click-bombing so you can’t track their IPs, you can enable the “Allowed Sites” feature under “Adsense Setup” tab that only the URLs your specify can still display ads, but impressions and clicks won’t be recorded, advertisers won’t be charged, and you won’t receive any earnings for that URL.

The Wall Street Journal today reported that Google has been in discussions with with several makers of popular online games as it seeks to develop a broader social networking service that could compete with Facebook. Google has talked with top developers to offer their games on a new service. Those developers include Playdom Inc., Electronic Arts Inc.’s Playfish and Zynga Game Network Inc. It is still unclear when Google may launch the new gaming platform, but people briefed on the matter said the social game would be part of broader social-networking initiative.

Social games are less complex than those played on consoles like Microsoft’s Xbox 360 or Sony PlayStation 3. Individuals use the games to interact with online friends in their networks. The developers make money through advertising and by offering users a way to pay for virtual goods in their games.

Google Chrome is our official web browser besides the most popular modern browser Firefox. Recently Senior Vice President & Product Management Jonathan Rosenberg has posted a list of Chrome team’s favorite extensions that consists 19 extensions totally for almost all possible scenarios on the Official Google Blog.

Opinion Cloud: Summarizes comments on YouTube videos and Flickr photos to provide an overview of the crowd’s overall opinion.
Google Voice: All sorts of helpful Voice features directly from the browser. See how many messages you have, initiate calls and texts, or call numbers on a site by clicking on them.
AutoPager: Automatically loads the next page of a site. You can just scroll down instead of having to click to the next page.
Turn Off the Lights: Fades the page to improve the video-watching experience.
Google Dictionary: Double-click any word to see its definition, or click on the icon in the address bar to look up any word.

If i have have to choose one favorite Chrome extension from the list above, Google Dictionary is my choice definitely since it’s a life saver allowing you check any word’s definitions quickly and easily.
