Revisions was the major feature in WordPress 2.6, it will automatically save draft article as revision and you can easily recover and keep a track of modifications for these posts/pages. Anyway, revision feature has pros and cons. Do you know that if you have 100 blog posts in your WordPress blog, there is probably more than 300-500 revision redundancy articles in the MySQL database. It probably will slow down your blog speed performance. Unfortunately WordPress have no an option at admin panel to let you disable this feature.

The first step you have to drop all the prevision redundant revisions from database, i would highly recommend to install Delete-Revision WordPress plugin that you can one-click delete all the useless redundancy immediately. Average the database size can be minimized weight for around 20%. Your blog can benefit the speed improvement of the SQL statement.

Once clean and optimize your database, you need to install a WordPress revisions management plugin – Revision Control, it’s definitely a powerful plugin that you can set a site globally setting for pages/posts to enable/disable/limit the number of revisions which are saved for the page/post. You can also change this setting on a per-page/post basis from the Revisions meta box individually.

WordPress should seriously consider to add an option to allow users to disable and enable revision feature officially in the upcoming updates version. Whether the revision feature is useful for you?
