The Google Adsense team has announced today to update a new ad units layout for AdSense for content. 3 new text and URL placements will roll out over the next few weeks on the most popular 300×250, 336×280 and 728×90 px text ad units. The URL has been placed aside the ad title in all these units and the Adsense team has claimed that CTR will improve with the new redesign space-efficient format.

Here is new changes to the following ad units:

  • Leaderboard (728×90): the title, description, and URL are now arranged in rows instead of columns;
  • Medium and large rectangles (300×250, 336×280): the URL is now in the same line as the title;
  • There is a few minor adjustments to the font size. For example, the font size for the leaderboard with four ads is much more readable.
